20 Years and Growing

(01/25/2012) MPLS, MN - Spring 1992:  During his day job at a successful rotary union company an enterprising machinist saw an industry need; he would often encounter customers who required rotary unions with specifications that could not be satisfied using the standard models available. So after-hours, in a small garage in Osseo, MN, he began designing and building rotary unions that would handle these customers’ unique requirements – and with that Rotary Systems was born.

As its reputation for solving difficult applications grew, so too did Rotary Systems. It soon outgrew that little garage and moved to a small 8,000-sq/ft rental property in Anoka, Mn. Success bred more success, and in 2004 Rotary Systems built its own modern 10,000-sq/ft facility in Ramsey, Mn. Then, in 2009, responding to its customers’ increasing needs for passing electrical signals, Rotary Systems expanded its product line to include electrical slip rings. By early autumn of 2011, as both the rotary union and slip ring business increased the Ramsey facility was expanded to its current 30,000-sq/ft capacity. This expansion allowed Rotary Systems to dedicate more space for manufacturing and assembly, as well as creating room to bring in the latest in CNC machinery.

This spring, two decades after its modest beginnings, Rotary Systems celebrates its twentieth anniversary. From its new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant Rotary Systems continues to build standard and custom rotary unions and electrical slip rings for a broad range of industries, including work holding, machine tool, medical, steel processing, energy and defense.
